Every grand adventure starts with a humble spark — and for this creation, it all began when we ordered a multi-pack of dice for our escapades across distant realms. Whether we were braving the void in Starforged, helping rally the legions in Warhammer, or delving into the depths of Dungeons & Dragons, those dice were to be our trusty companions.
As we spilled the dice from their pouch, it wasn’t just the clatter of plastic on wood that enchanted us — it was the colours.
Swirling purples that seemed conjured from amethyst storms, inky blacks like night without stars, and glimmers of silver that whispered of forgotten treasure. Among them, the purple D20 called out the loudest.
Its marbled surface and mystical hue reminded us of something close to home: the soft, shimmering fabric leftover from a butterfly dress we’d crafted for our daughter (whose passion for butterflies rivals any bard’s devotion to their lute 🎶🦋).
💡 That was our lightbulb moment. Why shouldn’t these magical polyhedrons exist beyond the tabletop?
Why shouldn’t they be soft, huggable talismans that could join adventurers young and old on quests both real and imagined?
And so, the plan was forged. The D20 — symbol of fate, chaos, and critical hits — would be our first creation.
⚔️ Crafting a Dice Fit for Heroes
Every great artefact needs care in its making.
- We started by pairing that shimmering fabric with a sturdier backing, soft felt, resilient enough to endure many an epic encounter.
- Our trusty laser machine became the blacksmith’s forge, cutting precise panels shaped like the faces of the mighty D20.
- Next came the embroidery, where each number was stitched with the care of a wizard inscribing runes of power 🪄, ensuring accuracy so that every roll (or cuddle) felt true.
🧩 Sewing the panels together was like piecing together a puzzle of destiny — aligning the numbers, matching the seams, and bringing the form to life.
When it was done, we held in our hands not just a plush die, but a token of joy, wonder, and playful magic.
